Wicker Patio Chairs...Before and After
I have been searching Craigslist, Goodwill, and Garage Sales for the last couple months in hopes of finding the the perfect wicker chairs for my front porch. Well, all that time searching finally paid off! I found a man on Craigslist selling these beauties for $15 each!!! That is a major steal if you've ever looked into buying wicker before. Of course I couldn't leave them as is either- after a few coats of black spray paint they were just what I was visioning in my head.

Before & After Nightstand
Yet another Goodwill find. I think we ended up buying three different night stands for my little girl before settling on this one. This before picture is after I had already started sanding it, but you get the idea. It had a brass circular knob on it originally too.
After-
I sanded it and gave it a light coat of celery paint. I distressed it a little to tie in with the rest of her furniture. The little pink glass knob is my favorite part! I can't wait to move and get started on her room. (And yes, she currently shares her room with our office and that is the side of our desk in the picture. Bet you can't guess why we're moving!)

Lamp Re-Do
I recently bought this lamp at Goodwill for $2.50. Since I am really good at remembering to take before pictures, you'll just have to imagine the base was red. I am in the process of doing my son's room in a vintage airplane theme, hence the shade fabric.
I gave the base two coats of blue spray paint.
I measured and traced out the fabric for the lamp shade, then glued it on . I had originally put navy trim around the top and bottom too, but decided I liked it better without and ripped it off.

Trash to Treasure Baby Cradle
I bought this baby cradle at Goodwill for 1/2 off, which meant it was $2.50! It had stencil painting all the way around it with a large angel painted on the back. Not my cup of tea. I knew with a little sanding and a couple fresh coats of paint (and primer) she would be a beauty in no time.

...and one happy little girl!
I painted it with Rustoleom's Heirloom White spray paint and I am still debating on whether to distress it. I made a simple "mattress" and pillow, as well as a top sheet for the bedding. She loves it and and it beats paying $20 for a plastic Fisher Price cradle!

I've added this to Southern Hospitality's Thrifty Treasures Linky Party. Be sure and check out all the other great finds!

Trash to Treasure Furniture Re-Fab!
So I have been working on my daughter's "little girl" bedroom furniture for sometime now. I bought her furniture late last year and thought I had taken before pictures of everything...apparently not! The only before picture I could find was of the hutch, but just know the dresser looked the same way.
I am going for a "shabby princess" look for her room so I sanded, painted, distressed, and sealed everything off with a coat of poly.
BEFORE
AFTER

You can see the before and after of the hardware above. The top is what it looks like now, the bottom is what it did look like. I used a technique I found on Centsational Girl to re-finish them (look towards the middle of her post to see how to do it).

As for the bed, no before pictures, but it was a deep dark brown. I really like the dark brown showing through where I distressed the bed. I think I may go back and stain the distressed marks on the hutch a dark brown as well.
So that's as far as I've gotten. We are going to be moving in a few months so I will do her bedroom reveal then.

Serving Tray Makeover
I decided to add this to the Tray Transformation Linky Party over at 320 Sycamore, be sure and check out the other great trays!

It seems as though everybody in blog world is doing tray make-overs! I found this guy at Goodwill a few months back for $2 and finally got around to fixing him up. My husband had our paint sprayer out this past weekend so I decided to give him a few coats. I thought I would throw some fabric in the bottom for color but ended up using one of Martha Stewart's 24x24 sheets of paper from Michaels. Couldn't beat the price. I cut it to size and Mod Podged it on. Makes a great magazine display for my coffee table. Super simple, super cheap!

Before & After....Chair
Infarrantly Creative is having a Roadkill Rescue Party- Go Check it Out! I also rescued a baby cradle, but I have to admit, I paid $2.50 for it...still check it out!
Before
After

I've been needing a chair for my craft table for quite some time now. My husband called me from work one day last week and told me that someone had dropped off some old dining room chairs next to the dumpster at his work. So I hurried over to get one, and as you can tell they were in pretty bad shape. But not anymore! It was nothing a little sanding, painting, new pad, and some fabric couldn't handle.

Before & After....Mirror
BEFORE
AFTER

Sorry, these pictures didn't turn out to great. I got this mirror second hand for $15 and gave it a little make-over. I sanded and primed it then gave it a few coats of Sugar Egg Pink by Martha Stewart. I am doing a shabby princess theme for my little girl's room so the worn and refinished look is what I'm going for. This just happens to be the first piece I've actually finished. I still have the bed, dresser, hutch, and night stand to go....although, they won't be pink. Pictures of those to come.

Bookshelf Makeover
Before
After
This is a bookshelf that was given to us a few years ago. When we got it, it was white washed and had that pink hue to it. I hate to admit it, but we spray painted it white and threw it in my little boy's room. Now that I am in the process of re-doing his room I decided it needed a make over. A few coats of chocolate brown paint and a little bead board for the back panel.....much better!
